Hot Shots Dance Studio traveled to Orlando, Florida on March 4th through the 8th. They attended the Contest of Champions national dance competition for studios and schools. This competition was held at the ESPN Wild World of Sports venue. This competition was a 3 day competition for some schools and teams, but for Hot Shots it was a one day thing.
Hot Shots has been rehearsing and working for this for months. They had many practices and rehearsals in order for them to be ready to compete at their very best. On March 4, 2022 Hot Shots flew down to Florida to prepare for the competition the next day. After arriving, they ate and met for a rehearsal that night to practice and go over all of their corrections. After the rehearsal, everyone was told to go right to bed because they all had to be up very early the next morning and be ready to dance all day long. The morning of the competition, everyone had to be on the bus by 6:30am so that they could get to the venue early enough to warm up.
After arriving at ESPN Wild World of Sports the nerves started to kick in for all of the dancers. They had been preparing for this for so long and the time had finally come. As the dancers warmed up, put their costumes on and headed backstage they knew it was time for them to show everyone how hard they have worked for this. The nerves backstage were intense, but they all buckled down and just trusted that they were prepared and ready for this. After the first dance the nerves were calmed and they were ready for a day full of dancing.
Eventually, after 20 hours, the dancing came to an end and everyone waited for awards. The competition took forever and all the dancers and their families were eager to find out how they did. Closing out the night, after winning many awards, the biggest award had yet to be awarded to a team and Hot Shots was anxious to find out if all their work paid off. After many hours of waiting the Grand National Champion award was finally awarded to Hot Shots Dance Studio. Everyone could not have been more thrilled with how it turned out. Dancers, teachers and parents all celebrated with each other and the night could not have ended any better for this team.
After a long, hard day of competing, all the dancers and their families got to attend Disney World for the next 3 days. This is such a fun experience for the girls and their team because they got to be in Disney World with some of their best friends and they get to create such fun memories. After an exhausting trip Hot Shots continues to train for the rest of their competition season, and everyone can’t wait to see what happens.
