What It Means to Have an Opinion in 2020
To have an opinion in 2020 is a complete and utter disaster. It means you could lose friends, you could get suspended, you could get fired, or maybe even cancelled. Opinions often get confused as fact nowadays, and that leads to a whole new slew of problems. For example: if you had an opinion that climate change is real, you might have a hard time finding common ground with someone who does not. This happens because both people take their opinion to be truth, which ultimately leads to a heated argument, which sometimes will end in loss of friendship/respect. You might be wondering to yourself, what if I want to have an opinion and still keep all my friends? Well, you might just have to keep your opinion to yourself, or be vocal about it and risk losing valued relationships.
