Mars Rover
One year ago, NASA launched a space rocket into space to reach Mars. This space rocket had a rover and the rocket just barely touched down Feb 18, 2021. We now have five rovers on Mars. This rover’s name is Perseverance. The space rover left on July 30th, 2020. This is supposed to be NASA’s most advanced mars rover so far in the exploration of Mars. From mars.nasa.gov, “after a 203-day journey traversing 293 million miles (472 million kilometers). Confirmation of the successful touchdown was announced in mission control at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California at 3:55 p.m. EST (12:55 p.m. PST).” The rover’s main purpose is to look for any signs of life past or present and test life we could soon live on Mars. According to Mars.nasa.gov, “The Mars 2020 Perseverance Rover will search for signs of ancient microbial life, which will advance NASA’s quest to explore the past habitability of Mars. The rover has a drill to collect core samples of Martian rock and soil, then store them in sealed tubes for pickup by a future mission that would ferry them back to Earth for detailed analysis. Perseverance will also test technologies to help pave the way for future human exploration of Mars.”

This is cool but we aren’t fully able to recover it so what’s really the point of gathering samples?

It’s crazy to think that we have advanced technology all the way out in Mars millions of miles away.

The new mars rover seems like it can be a good technological advance. It will help our research on mars.
