Orem Rec Center
The Orem Rec started reconstruction on July 1st and planned on taking 18 months to complete, but finished on March 20th. With the pricey cost of 24.5 million, the gym floors, playground, racquetball courts, boulder climbing walls, the incline walk up and the adult-sized slide back down, six pickleball courts and the dance studio were built. Many have commented on the great views, while others have stated “there is something for everyone”.
“You don’t get this opportunity as a city or a neighborhood very often,” said Karl Hirst, director of Parks and Recreation. The more people that utilize this opportunity, the more it will financially and socially help the city. This is a chance to learn new skills, and meet new people.
With the Orem Rec App becoming more known, many are using the useful tool to see when the Rec Center is less busy. This can be game changing for anyone concerned by Covid 19. The hours that the recreation center is open are 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., but it is closed on Sundays.
Of course this recreation couldn’t have been completed without generous donations. Woodbury donated $1 million. “This is one way we are showing our continual commitment to the city of Orem and its ongoing success,” said Randy Woodbury, president and CEO of Woodbury Corp.
