Utah received quite a bit of snow and ice on the roads over the weekend. Drivers were encouraged to be cautious as ice always takes its victim. On November 28th, an oil tanker lost traction on the road due to ice and tipped over. The two 4500 gallon tanks ruptured and poured oil into the provo river. causing the Provo canyon to shut down for a lengthy 10 hours. No deaths were reported and local news has said that the spill will not affect drinking water because the Orem water plant shut down before the oil could reach it. Cleaning crews are working diligently to repair damage done to Provo canyon.
