Club Spotlight: DECA
DECA is a business and marketing club that expands with entrepreneurship and public relations and etc. DECA trains you to be quick thinkers, problem solvers, and great business leaders. Throughout the year the DECA club will have you compete in where you solve real life scenarios with unique ideas and solutions. They also give opportunities to do long-term commitments. For example some girls competed with a financial skills project to teach elementary school kids how to deal with money and wrote reports on it. DECA is not a stressful environment but an opportunity to find out what you’re good at and how to expand on a future in that setting. DECA has been a relatively smaller club primarily because some kids don’t know how to join or what it is. It’s super easy to join and just taking a business class is the place to start, or if that isn’t an option they also host workshops and activities you can jump into.
“I love DECA because it really inspired me to pursue business after high school. It’s also a great way to make friends and meet possible future business partners,” says VP of activities, Julia Cavalcanti.
