Fall Festivities

October has gone by in a flash and with the Halloween season here, there are so many activities to do this fall. Pumpkin patches, costume shopping, haunted houses, you name it! Today we’re gonna cover some of the fall activities around town and where you should go to get into the Halloween spirit.

With Halloween less than a week away, haunted houses and corn mazes have been opening all around town. Wilkerson’s Farm throws an annual fall fair that is very fun when going with large groups. They have a corn maze, a small petting zoo, rides, and a very large pumpkin selection for all your carving and decorating needs. Cornbelly’s is popular among locals and is similar to Wilkerson’s Farms but way bigger. They’ve recently opened a new location in Spanish Fork in addition to the one in Lehi. Cornbelly’s is known for its gargantuan 10-acre corn maze but also features amusement park rides, face painting, apple blasters, Insanity Point, and much more. Evermore Park also throws a fall festival with the highlight being the lore which is fun quests and includes guilds you can join. The fair is filled with shows, themed shops, games, and much more.

Lagoon also has an annual Halloween attraction called Frightmares open on weekends. According to the Lagoon website, these are their scariest activities: Malevolent Mansion, Frightening Frisco, Nightmare Midway, and Nightwalk. They also have a broad selection of Halloween attractions for the “faint of heart.” The regular attractions of the park are always open if you feel the Halloween spirit is too much.

Fall is all about the transition to winter with the leaves changing color and falling, the weather getting colder, days getting shorter, and nights getting longer. With nature being painted in beautiful colors it’s only natural to want to spend time outside so here are some activities to keep you outdoors. The alpine loop is always at its prettiest during autumn which also makes it a great place to take Instagram pictures. Sundance has a scenic lift ride that gives you a magnificent view of Mount Timpanogos and all of the surrounding fall colors. The Spanish Fork and Provo canyons are always great places to pass the time in nature providing bike trails and beautiful scenery. Orem’s Sunset Farmers Market is open every Wednesday from July through October. There’s local organic produce, bread, honey, soaps, and so much more you can buy there and it’s also very cute.

We wanted to make sure that these places were actually worth going to so we asked a few people what they thought. “Wilkerson’s Farm seems like it could be really fun with a big group of friends. Cornbelly’s always has so many activities and is super fun. I liked the farmers market because it was really fun, pretty, and aesthetically pleasing. The food there was also really good.” said Abygail Porras. Another student said “What I love about [the alpine loop] is that it really makes you appreciate how lucky we are to live in Utah and have these big beautiful mountains!! 1000% would recommend it to anyone needing an escape.”

If you’re not a very outdoorsy person, there are always great movies to watch at home with popcorn like “The Nightmare Before Christmas”, “Halloween”, and “Scream.”

And those are some of the local fall festivities to help you get into the fall mood and Halloween spirit.
