Comeback by the Bruins

Mountain View vs. Dixie Football Game

Mountain View Football team against Dixie High.

On August 28 the Bruins played against the Dixie Flyers. They’ve always been a playoff team from down south. We were predicted to lose by 28 points, but with some outstanding performances on both sides of the ball the Bruins managed to make a last minute comeback. The final score was 21-20.

In the first quarter our offense took the lead with a quick score, but not too long after the Flyers tied the game 7-7.

In the second quarter the Flyers took the lead of the game 17-14.

After half time starting wide receiver Max Blackwell #5 got hurt and had to exit the game on an ambulance. This woke us up as both offense and defense started playing more aggressive at the end of the quarter the score was still 17-14.

In the fourth quarter the Flyers, feeling the pressure from our front seven decided to attempt a field goal which ended up being successful, giving them, an even bigger lead, 20-14, with two minutes left on the clock our defense took the field and with some key sacks from Esparza and Hone we forced the Flyers to punt, giving our offense one last chance to score, and they did with some quick passes from Kunz and a rushing touchdown from Liam Hone the Bruins took the lead after Ivan Cueva score the extra point, giving the Bruins a lead of one. After this the defense went back on the field to finish the game.
