Spikeball Club

Spikeball. Have you heard of that sport?

Well, let me elaborate. Just think of what would happen if Four Square and Volleyball had a baby.

It was created in 1989 by Jeff Knurek although the equipment he created for the game became outdated and lost popularity in 1995. The sport experienced a revival in 2008 when Spikeball Inc. came out and saved the game that some people love to this day. This game is played 2 v 2. The setup of the game is very comparable to Volleyball. There is a circular net that resembles a small trampoline, which essentially acts the same as a volleyball net, but faces up instead of strewn across a court.

Players get three hits, like in volleyball, to hit a small ball onto the net to the other team, allowing only one bounce on the net. Essentially, when a player hits the ball at the net to bounce to the other team it is the same as when the ball crosses the net in a volleyball game.

With that being said, if you love the game of volleyball you should definitely try out our MVHS Spikeball club!

Spikeball made its big entrance when it was on the TV show Shark Tank and it appeared in the final of season 6.
