Wrestling State Meet

To be able to wrestle at the state tournament you had to place in the top 8 of your Division, at State the 16 best wrestlers in each weight class from 5A will wrestle to see who’s the champion.
A wrestling team scores points via the results of its individual wrestler’s matches:
6 Points: Wrestler wins by pin or forfeit, injury default or disqualification of the opponent.
5 Points: Wrestler wins by technical fall.
4 Points: Wrestler wins by major decision (point spread of between 8 and 14 points).
3 Points: Wrestler wins by regular decision (7 points or less).
The 5A State Championships happened last month. Mountain View had 15 wrestlers going into the state tournament, 4 of them wrestled in the finals, Gable Stoddard (113), Radi Stafford (182) Eli Stafford (220) Chris Esparza (285), Mountain view ended their season 5th after scoring 124 team points. This is the second year in a row that the bruins finish 5th at the state tournament.

Next year Gable Stoddard and Cody Burr will lead the Bruins Wrestling team. With 9 returning state placers we can expect the Bruins to continue to be in the top 5 teams of the state.
