ANNUAL FILM FESTIVAL LOCALLY SHOWING AT SUNDANCE
The new year of 2022 has approached, and only much awaits in this mysterious year that is full of events and surprises. Every year puts up a new challenge, and in the film industry, it gives filmmakers another chance to get better at doing what they love, and showing it to the world.

This year to start things off, there’s a small town in one of Utah County’s canyons called Sundance, which is very well known by many and grabs the attention of moviegoers across the state of Utah once every year, or variously throughout the year for film production. And since a new year has decided to take place, Sundance holds a Utah Film Festival called The Sundance Film Festival. This is an annual event where big or small directors, producers, editors, actors and others that have pitched in to make a motion picture possible all gather ‘round to see their creation and submit their final product, and show it at this festival if approved by the judges and people who are hosting the event.
There are many types of movies that are shown there, and the films are all categorized uniquely; for example, some projects that took only a week to start and finish can be listed there, or if someone decided to do a short film, then it would be categorized more towards that. Sometimes people make full-out professional-style films that are absolutely jaw dropping, and what’s crazy about those is that they aren’t made in Hollywood, nor associated with them. Now since they are all not from Hollywood, there’s obviously a lower budget involved, so they’re not going to be Marvel™-Movie impressive, but they’ll still be good enough showings that you wouldn’t want to miss after even one showing.
As far as preferences go, there are a wide variety of movie genres to select from, and the type of setting the movies take place in are in space, nature, cities and more. This is the kind of festival that will show you the kind of works that are possible in the filmmaking industry. The amount of social interactions in and at the festival make it a great place to talk with others, including those who put these movies together and you can see how they put their pieces together; that is assuming they are willing to share. You may even be able to meet the judges who view and grant film awards based on the “Best Storyline”, or “Best Horror” and they can tell you what would make a film great and what to look for if you’re making a movie and looking to enter into this festival one day. Since everyone wants to make the best movie in the film industry, that’s what makes filmmakers super competitive against each other, and that’s why movies even from here have been becoming better and better over the decades. Each film is in some form of hard work. Some will even do it for fun, and even get awards on the side if their project turns out in front of the judges.
An event like this is something you won’t want to miss if you are known to watch movies, so go and plan to see what the people in Utah alone are capable of! Yes, exclusively residents of Utah get to enter this competition. So feel free to go see what the people around you can do!
Also! For Mountain View High School Students with an English 12 class; a field trip was offered to view the screening of the “Utama” film on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at 9 A.M. A fee of $2.00 had to be paid at the financial office by Friday, January 21. Parents were notified if students are to sign up for this and pardon specific class absences.

ⓘ For the Sundance Film Festival: Different times and dates take place depending on the type of film that will be showing (e.g. short films, extended cuts, week-long projects, etc.).
As of this year, this event goes as follows and will begin on January 20th to January 30th, 2022. A small fee may be required to view select movie titles and/or genres, estimating around $10. A red carpet event will also be hosted to show the creators of the films and various awards ceremonies as well. This increment of the event will be FREE ADMISSION.
NOTICE: Some of these showings are considered to be in the R-Rated categories or above [NC-17]. These titles are NOT professionally and/or officially run through the Motion Picture Association of America™ and are professionally listed as “Unrated Titles”. However, a designated theatre is provided to view the works of those films if truly desired. An adult may be required to view select material. State and Federal Age-Restriction laws apply.
